Dear IATRC Colleagues,

It is with great sadness that I share with you news of the passing of Tim Josling.  Tim was one of the six founding members of the IATRC and was its chairman for a period.  His contributions to all manner to trade policy analysis, to say nothing of his work on the economics of a broader range of agricultural issues and policies, cannot be overstated.  Tim was an Englishman and a leader in the economics of trade policy.  After he began his academic career teaching at the LSE and Reading, he was a long-time professor at Stanford, first in the Food Research Institute and then in the Freeman-Spogli Institute for International Studies.  But his contributions to the IATRC were huge.  He was an intellectual rudder of our organization, a highly active contributor at virtually all our annual meetings across the full range of IATRC activities, and a source of rare insight and wisdom.  Above all else, he was a warm friend to all of us.

Stanford University published a lovely obituary of Tim, linked here.

Sincerely,
Rick Barichello
IATRC Executive Committee Chair
